Oceanside International Film Festival 2014

The Oceanside International Film Festival (OIFF) will be held August 3rd - August 10th 2014. OIFF, which was established in 2009, gives independent filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work on the big screen and have it judged. Over 70 independent films will be featured this year and include films produced in countries as far away as India and Australia. Film buffs and enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of films, from Sci-Fi, comedies, animation and feature films to documentaries exploring surf culture and the military.

Film industry guests and audience members alike will appreciate the ocean-infused atmosphere surrounding the city, where the festival is held. Located in the most Northern part of San Diego county and within a short drive from Los Angeles and Orange counties, Oceanside offers miles of sandy beaches ideal for sun-worshiping and surfing. Between screenings, movie aficionados will be able to visit the famous bungalow house featured in “Top Gun” (starring Tom Cruise), California Surf Museum, or the longest wooden pier on the western United States coastline – all downtown Oceanside within walking distance from OIFF-2014. Oceanside is also home to a harbor bustling with restaurants and entertainment, and to the historic Mission San Luis Rey, the largest building in California when completed in 1700’s and the most prosperous of the state’s 21 missions, thus earning the name “King of the Missions”.

Films will be shown at Star Theatre and the Sunshine Brooks Theatre, 217 North Coast Highway.
This is a public event. Festival admission is $10-$50; military rate $10 for one day; $35 for festival pass.

3:30 to 6:00 pm  – theatrical performance onstage of Star Theatre, opening speech and greetings from OIFF’s organizational committee, and screening of Guest Feature Film

Step Into Liquid - Saturday, July 12th - Come and see this documentary about surfing directed by Dana Brown, son of famous surfer and filmmaker Bruce Brown. The film includes surfing footage from the famous Pipeline, the beaches of Vietnam, and some of the world's largest waves, at Cortes travel.
The Lego Movie - Saturday, August 30th - Come and see this 2014 computer animated adventure comedy film based mainly on the Lego line of construction toys.  The film tells the story of an ordinary Lego mini figure named Emmet prophesied to save the Lego universe from the tyrannical Lord Business, who plans to use the kragle to glue everything in place.

The Goonies - Saturday, October 11th - Come and see this 1985 American adventure-comedy about a band of pre-teens who live in the Goon Docks neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon, attempting to save their homes from demolition, and in doing so, discover an old Spanish map that leads them on an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of One-Eyed Willie, a legendary 17th century pirate.
